Abstract

Languages in contact are a phenomenon that attracts the attention of linguists all over the world. This phenomenon results in a linguistic situation where more than one language is spoken and used in various communities across the globe. Languages in contact have some serious positive and negative implications on the use of languages concerned. This paper therefore, examines the concept of languages in contact, its sociolinguistic implications and significance to igala language and it users.
