Abstract

The important role, which the computer plays in this modern age in all spheres of human endeavour, cannot be overemphasized. As a matter of fact, Nigeria and other developing countries of the world will continue to lag behind in the areas of scientific, technological and industrial development, unless they embrace the computer technology. However, people have always held the erroneous view that it is impossible to document scientific and technical texts such as computer terminology in Nigerian languages, especially Igbo due to the inadequacy of their vocabularies. Therefore, this paper sets out to suggest certain translation techniques by which basic computer terms could be developed in Igbo language.
