Abstract

Freedom is the absence of coercion and constraints and will power is the ability of human beings to make choices without external influences. The philosophy of Karl Jaspers’ clearly illustrates the position of man in making choices and exercising basic human rights and freedom without fear of reprimand. Using the method of critical analysis, this paper finds out the philosophical undertones present in Karl Jaspers’ notion of freedom and self-will as it can be applied and evident in our contemporary Nigerian society.
