The Centre for Sustainable Development is one of the prime Centres in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Nigeria geared towards seeking solutions to many problems of a typical third World country like Nigeria where infrastructural facilities for human sustenance have become a major challenge. The universities all over the world are known for proferring solutions to the problems of society. It is in that direction that this centre has been established to lead the way by deploying quality research to improve lives and make the world a better place for all.

Today, Nigeria faces serious challenges of development, especially with regard to deficiencies in power supply, environmental degradation, poor road network, inadequate facilities for learning, poor water supply, unreliable health institutions, massive unemployment, huge industrial low capacity productions, and general cynicism among the populace. Actions aimed toward ameliorating these deficiencies are in conformity with the mission and vision of the centre.

Therefore, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Senate granted approval for the establishment of the centre with a firm belief in the Centre’s mission and bearing in mind the high quality staff that will drive the centre.
