This mixed-methods study investigates the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in
university management across four Nigerian institutions—two public (University of Nigeria Nsukka,
Nnamdi Azikiwe University) and two private (Coal City University, Peaceland University). Drawing
on surveys from 40 administrators and qualitative interviews, the study explores four dimensions:
administrative efficiency, student outcomes, research innovation, and staff readiness. Quantitative
data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-sample t-tests; thematic analysis was used
for interview data. Findings indicate significant improvements in efficiency, student satisfaction, and
research innovation following AI implementation, but financial and training constraints remain
significant barriers. The paper concludes with actionable recommendations for enhancing AI
integration in higher education.
