Author Guidelines

Types of articles which are acceptable

The Journal of Early Childhood and Primary Education accept two forms of articles for publication. These are:

  1. Report of Empirical Studies: These should describe new and carefully confirmed findings, and details of the research methods should be given so that others can verify the work. The length of a full paper should not exceed 6000 words (i.e 15 A4 pages).
  1. Reviews of Theoretical Papers: Submissions of reviews and perspectives covering topics of current interest may be accepted for publication. The length of a reviewed paper should not exceed 6000 words (i.e. 15 A4 pages).

METHODS OF SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

Manuscripts: All manuscripts must be submitted in Micro Soft Word type written in English language. Manuscript should be typed using “Times New Roman” font 12. The spacing should be 1.5. Manuscript should be submitted as E-Mail attachments to [email protected] and also copy the Editor-in-Chief. The manuscript will be acknowledged on receipt of the article and assigned a manuscript number to the article.

Titles and Title Page: Titles may not be longer than 22 words. Subtitles, if included, may be no longer than 18 words. The title should be a brief phrase reflecting the contents of the paper. The title page should include the author(s) full names and affiliations, telephone/fax numbers as well as e-mail address should be included. Also to be included is the name of the corresponding author along with phone number and email information.

Abstract: The abstract should be about 200 words. The abstract shall concisely contain the purpose, number of research questions and hypotheses, research method, major finding(s) and the corresponding recommendation(s). keywords of 3-5 words can be stated below the abstract.

Introduction: The introduction should provide a clear background and statement of the problem, the relevant literature on the subject and the proposed approach or solution. The motivation for the study must be clearly stated at the concluding part of the introduction. Research questions/hypotheses shall come immediately after the motivation for the study.

Method: This should contain the research design, population, sampling procedure, sample size, instrumentation, validation, test for reliability and method of data analysis.

Results: The results should be presented with clarity and precision. It should be presented under the directional/research questions or hypotheses. The results should be explained.

Discussion: The discussion of findings should relate to the research findings to the findings of earlier researches that are relevant to the study. Justification should be made for deviation from expectation and previous study.

Conclusion: This shall be brief and direct to the findings of the study.

Recommendations: Authors are required to recommend innovatively based on the findings of the study.

References: They must be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order. Authors should ensure that every reference in the text appears in the list of references and vice versa. References should be in the latest American Psychology Association (APA) bibliographic format. APA 6th or 7th Edition may be used. The two editions shall not be used in a single manuscript simultaneously. Authors are advised to be consistent.

Plagiarism: Journal of Early Childhood and Primary Education JECAPE takes concern of plagiarism very seriously. All manuscripts are checked for plagiarized passages prior to being accepted for publication. Authors should ensure that all information taken from outside sources is properly cited and that all thoughts are composed in the authors’ own words. All instances of plagiarism will be immediately returned to the authors for correction and may be cause for removal of the manuscript from the publication.

SUBMISSION CHECKLIST

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines above.
