Abstract

This study examines the role of leadership in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in organizations, focusing on leadership competencies that facilitate successful AI implementation and how leadership influences employees’ readiness and attitudes toward AI technologies. The study adopts a qualitative, conceptual approach based on secondary data obtained from relevant scholarly literature. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns and themes across studies. Findings reveal that leadership competencies such as digital literacy, strategic vision, communication skills, adaptability, and ethical awareness are critical for successful AI implementation. The study further shows that leadership significantly influences employees’ readiness and attitudes toward AI through communication, training, and organizational support. Employees are more likely to accept AI when they perceive it as useful and when leaders actively guide the transformation process. The study concludes that leadership is a key determinant of successful AI adoption in organizations. It recommends leadership capacity development, structured change management, employee training, and ethical governance to enhance AI integration.
