UNE LECTURE DE PETIT PIMENT D’ ALAIN MABANCKOU

Abstract

The study explores the concept of 'mental style’ in the African francophone novel, focusing on the representation of the thoughts and emotions of the child narrator-protagonist in Mabanckou's Petit Piment. The main objective is to analyse how Mabanckou has succeeded in creating the mindstyle of the character Moses (Petit Piment), highlighting the linguistic and narrative choices that capture the innocence and unique perspective of childhood. The study uses a qualitative research approach with textual analysis. The focus is on mind-style, drawing on the concepts of Roger Fowler and others, exploring linguistic choices in lexis, semantics, grammar and rhetoric. The analysis looks at how mental style is used to project the inner world of the protagonist, highlighting anguage choices that reflect the innocence, curiosity and singular vision of childhood. The mindstyle in Moses creates an emotional connection between the reader and the character, offering a nuanced exploration of childhood and its impact on the narrative.

L'étude explore le concept de « style mental » dans le roman africain francophone, en se concentrant sur la représentation des pensées et des émotions du narrateur-protagoniste enfantin dans Petit Piment de Mabanckou. L'objectif principal est d'analyser comment Mabanckou a réussi a créer le style mental du protagoniste de Moise (Petit Piment), en mettant en lumiére les choix
linguistiques et narratifs qui capturent l'innocence et la perspective unique de l'enfance. L'étude utilise une approche de recherche qualitative avec une analyse textuelle. La focalisation est sur le style mental, notamment en se basant sur les concepts de Roger Fowler et d'autres critiques, explorant les choix linguistiques dans le roman choisi : le lexique, la sémantique, la grammaire et les rhétoriques. L'analyse se penche sur la maniére dont le style mental est utilisé pour projeter le monde intérieur de Moise, en mettant en évidence les choix de langage qui reflétent l'innocence, la curiosité et la vision singuliére de l'enfance. Le style mental de Moise facilite la compréhension du texte chez les lecteurs, offrant une exploration nuancée de l'enfance et de son impact sur le récit.
