Call for Papers: Festschrift in Honor of Professor Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic

The Faculty of Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka hereby invites submissions for a Festschrift for a professor, scholar, administrator, community leader and gentleman, Prof Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic. This Festschrift provides a unique platform to the authors to share their knowledge within disciplines relevant to Professor Onukwuli’s diverse and rich scholarship and experience.

Profile of Professor Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic

Professor Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic was born on August 5, 1955 in Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.  His first experience in the academic field was at the Pannonia University, Hungary where he received the BSc degree in Chemical Engineering in 1979. He proceeded to do his master in the same university in 1981 and a doctorate in the University of Lagos in 1988.

Presently, he is a full professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he has shaped the curriculum and also served in various leadership roles, including Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.  Professor Onukwuli is a dedicated educator who has imparted knowledge to students through his teaching of complex topics such as thermodynamics and separation processes.  As a prolific researcher, Professor Onukwuli research area of interest includes coagulation and flocculation, biodiesel production, polymer composites and corrosion. His scholarly output is impressive and has achieve 515 journal publications, 38 refereed conference proceedings, 10 books and book chapters. Listed among the top 500 researchers in Nigeria accredited by SCOPUS, he was also commended by the vice chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

His contributions extend beyond research and teaching. As a mentor, he has supervised 47 Ph.D. thesis and 65 M.Sc. and M.Eng. projects. His mentorship has played a vital role in nurturing the next generation of engineers and researchers.  Professor Onukwuli is a fellow of esteemed organizations such as the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and Nigerian Academy of Science. He is also involved in accreditation exercises and journal editorship. He is a leader in his hometown of Umuoji where he was honored with the chieftaincy title Ochudo (peace seeker) in recognition of his commitment to peace and progress.

Guidelines for Submissions

We welcome submissions in two categories:

  1. Articles: Manuscripts of up to 5000 words (including Abstract, Introduction, Method, Discussion of Results, Conclusion, and References) are encouraged. Submissions should have a substantive and/or methodological focus that connects with the work of Professor Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic while making a significant contribution to the existing literature.
  2. Short Pieces: We invite short pieces, collectively entitled 'Appreciative Connections,' each within 500 words. Each piece should describe some aspect of Professor Onukwuli Okechukwu Dominic’s work or working, emphasizing its influence on other research and researchers at the individual, institutional, or academic field level.
