EDITORIAL NOTE
The Awka Journal of English Language and Literary Studies (AJELLS) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal published in both print and online mode by the Department of English Language and Literature, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. The journal is indexed on Google Scholar and enjoys online visibility, making its scholarly contributions accessible to the global audience.
This Special Edition of AJELLS emerged from the Department's commitment to mentoring young academics in research writing and scholarly collaboration. The initiative, introduced by the current Head of the Department, as “Research Collaboration and Mentoring Teams”, was designed to forge research collaboration teams that have a mix of elderly and young academics in a symbiotic relationship aimed at fostering research excellence among academic staff members in the Department. The teams collaborate at various stages of research design, problem formulation, theoretical and empirical procedures, data collection and analysis, with each team presenting its research report before the Department for rigorous critical review, which takes place every fortnight. The papers underwent several stages of revision, incorporating constructive feedback at every stage until the papers were developed into publishable scholarly works.
We express our sincere appreciation to all the contributors whose papers successfully reached this final stage, as well as to everyone whose dedication, support, and commitment made this special edition a reality. AJELLS remains committed to publishing high-quality, original research founded on sound theoretical and empirical frameworks. As a publication of the Department of English Language and Literature, the journal places a high premium on grammatical accuracy, logical organization, coherent presentation of ideas, effective paragraphing, and error-free writing. Authors whose works are in this edition are therefore expected to have passed through the rigours of peer-review before final publication to ensure the journal's standards of scholarly excellence.
