The Awka Journal of English Language and Literary Studies (AJELLS) is a bi-annual, print and online, peer-reviewed publication of the Department of English Language and Literature, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. The journal is visible online, indexed by Google Scholar. The multidisciplinary focus of AJELLS enables it to draw contributors not only from language, literature, literary criticism, linguistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, stylistics, but also welcomes researches from allied disciplines such as gender studies, critical discourse analysis of media, political, medical, religious, ecological, and other discourses, psychoanalysis, philosophy of language and language therapy. Papers from Theatre and Film Studies, Modern European Languages, Igbo, African and Communication Studies and Chinese Studies are also welcome. In fact, the journal accepts language/literature-related researches in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and other related areas of specialization.
AJELLS insists on quality, originality and sound theoretical and empirical bases in all papers. Emanating from the Department of English Language and Literature, a high level of grammatical constructions, proper organisation and presentation of facts, good paragraphing and error-free write-ups are germane. Authors are expected to properly self-edit their papers before final submission.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES
Contributors are expected to write their names, institution affiliation and their mailing address with brief bibliographical profile of not more than five lines. They should also keep copies of the materials sent.
Length: Articles should be within 5,000 and 6,000 words.
Format: The article should be double spaced written on one side A4 paper and should be numbered.
Copyright: The contributor should ensure clear permission as the editors will not take responsibility.
