EDITORIAL POLICY AND GUIDELINES TO CONTRIBUTORS
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Journal of Customary and Religious Law (NAUJOCARL) is a
scholarly, peer-reviewed (fully refereed), open access, online/print annual journal dedicated to issues of customary law and religious law whether in the municipal or international sphere. Such issues extend, but not limited, to legal and institutional regimes as well as jurisprudential issues in Customary law, Sharia law, and Canon law. It inquires into the relationship between customary law and statutory law, customary law and international law, and the different religious legal systems. It further discusses issues of freedom of religion, religion and law, secularity of the State, religion and State relationship, and equality of religions. The Journal offers a forum for legal
scholars and jurists to present research findings for effective social engineering and sustainable development. Well researched and original papers on topical matters in the above areas are welcome.
Guidelines to Contributors
1. Title Page
The title page should include: (i) The name(s) of the author(s), (ii) A concise and
informative title, (iii) The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s), (iv) The e-mail
address, and telephone numbers of the corresponding author.
2. Language:
The language of the manuscript must be English (British).
3. Originality: Submitted papers must be original, well-researched, and must not have been
previously published within or outside the country nor infringe any personal or
property rights of other.
4. Abstract and key words: Please provide an abstract of 150 to 250 words which must
include (i) An introduction, (ii) the objective of the study, (iii) methodology, (iv) the
findings/results of the study and a summary of recommendations.
Provide 4 to 6 keywords that can be used for indexing purposes.
5. Length and format: The length of the paper should not exceed 7000 words (including
references) and should be formatted in: (i) Times New Roman, (ii) Font- 12, (iii) Spacing-
1.5 line spacing for the body of the paper and single line spacing for footnotes.
6. Subdivision of the article
Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be
numbered 1, 2 ((then 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2), 1.2, 1.3, etc). The Abstract is not included in
section numbering. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the
expense of clarity.
7. Referencing and citation: Author(s) should adhere strictly to the NALT Uniform
Citation style accessible at www.naltng.org. In addition to full citation, online sources
should indicate the site visited and date of visit.
8. Submission of Manuscripts: Interested contributors are to submit their
