IMPACT OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH-EAST NIGERIA

The study was carried out to assess the impact of new technologies on the academic performance of Business Education students in South-East Nigerian Universities. In order to achieve this purpose, the study had three specific objectives, three research questions, and three hypotheses. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The study population was 500. A total of 500 questionnaires were administered to the respondents, and 460 were returned. comprising 242 female and 218 male students in universities offering Business Education in Southeast Nigeria. Census sampling technique was used; hence, the population is manageable for the study. A structured questionnaire tagged Impact of New Technologies on Academic Performance Questionnaire (INTEAPQ) was used to collect data from the respondents. The instrument was subjected to face and content validation by three experts, with Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of 0.87. The mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data to answer the research questions, while a t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that respondents agreed that new technologies have a significant impact on the academic performance of Business Education students in Southeast Nigerian Universities. The findings equally showed that the use of new technologies has positively influenced the academic performance of Business Education students in Southeast Nigerian Universities. The study therefore recommended the use of new technology platforms to complement teaching and learning in South East Nigerian Universities
