Keywords:
Professional Development, Research-Practice Partnerships (RPPs), Science Education, and TechnologyAbstract
This chapter examines the implementation and challenges of technology-enhanced
research-practice partnerships (RPPs) in science and STEM education, with a focus
on strategies for fostering collaboration, overcoming barriers, and ensuring
sustainability. Drawing on empirical studies from Akwa Ibom State and global
research, the chapter highlights approaches for integrating emerging technologies,
including online modules, simulations, and collaborative platforms, into teacher
professional development. Key challenges such as infrastructure limitations, the
digital divide, and equity issues are analyzed, alongside best practices for building
resilient partnerships that support teacher growth and student learning. The chapter
emphasizes participatory and design-based models that position educators as co
creators of knowledge while aligning institutional policies, leadership support, and
evaluation mechanisms for long-term impact. Recommendations are provided to
guide policymakers, educators, and researchers in leveraging technology-driven
collaborations to advance science education and global competitiveness.
