Cet article compare le niveau de fidélité entre la traduction automatique et la traduction humaine dans la traduction d’un roman anglais d’origine igbo intitulé Ọdiuko, The Story of Amazon en langue française. Qu’elle soit automatique ou humaine, la fidélité en traduction reste l’un des défis de la traduction en générale, et la traduction d’une langue biculturelle en particulière. En effet, chaque traducteur s’efforce d’atteindre un équivalent acceptable le plus proche du texte original dans sa traduction. Considérant des différences culturelles entre nos langues de travail, nous examinerons le niveau de la fidélité entre le logiciel Google Translate et
traduction humaine dans la traduction des expressions choisis, en respectant le style de l’auteur et les identités culturelles de la communauté linguistique cible. L’étude proposera une approche dynamique de la traduction aux traducteurs littéraires et aux chercheurs qui pourraient la trouver pertinente.

Abstract
This article primarily compares the fidelity levels between machine translation and human translation of an English language novel of African (Igbo) origin titled Ọdiuko, The Story of an Amazon into French language. Be it automatic or human, faithfulness in translation remains one of the greatest challenges of translation in general, and translating bicultural language in particular. To this effect, every translator works to achieve a closest acceptable equivalent of the original text in his translation. Taking into account, the cultural differences between the working languages of this study, we shall examine how faithfully Google Translate and human translation
translate the meaning of some selected expressions, as well, respect the style of the author and the cultural identities of the different target communities involved. The study proposes a dynamic approach to translation for literary translators and other researchers who may find it relevant.
